Mercury planet is the closed planet to the Sun. Sun is the main planet in our universe.  In Indian Vedic Astrology this is known as Budha which means intelligence. This planet also represents the qualities of communication. Some pundit/astrologers or even some books these days write it as planet of cleverness but that is not true. The planet Mercury is considered a benefic planet if it in conjunction with/aspects by its friends. But under some other conditions like in house of enemy in conjunction with/aspects by its of enemy planets than It acts as of malefic planet. Mercury also represents logics.
