Rajyogas

Important combinations/yogas as given below.

(1) When the Moon or the Lagna occupying a Vargottamamsa is aspected by other planets in the 4th, 10th and 7th bhavas, the person born will be a leader of man (J.P. VII/5)

(2) When the full Moon is in the 9th Bhava occupying its own, exaltation or a friendly house and when Saturn and Mars occupy the 10th and the 2nd Bhavas from the Lagna, a lord of earth is born. When the Moon is full and strong occupying a kendra other than the Lagna and is aspected by both Venus and Jupiter, under such a yoga is born a sovereign who will generously make gifts of land (J.P. VII/9).

(3) When Saturn is in Kumbha identical with the Lagna and when four planets occupy their exaltation signs, an emperor is born (J.P. VII/23).

(4) If benefic planets be strong occupying the 1st, 10th, 7th and 4th Bhavas and if Mars and Saturn be in the 9th and 11th Bhavas, the person born will be a king, possessed with every amiable virtue (J.P. VII/4).

(5) If two or three planets are strong with Digbala, the person if born in a royal family will become a victorious king. If four or five such planets (exept Saturn) acquire Digbala, the native though born in an ordinary family will become a king (Phala Deepika-VII/4).

(6) Of the many Raja Yoga, the most powerful if the conjunction of the lords of 9th and 10th houses in the Kendra or Trine. This yoga is capable of conferring high political power, opulence and renown (Phala Deepika-VI/37).

(7) A person born in Adhi Yoga becomes a king, or a Minister and becomes happy, wealthy, distroyer of enemies, free from diseases and long lived. This yoga is formed if the benefics occupy the 6th, 7th and 8th house from the Moon (Sarvartha Chintamani-XVI/7).

(8) Mahabhagya Yoga arises in the case of male born day time, when the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant occupy odd signs. In case of females born during night time, this yoga arises when the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant occupy even signs. This Yoga confers starling character, opulence, power, renown, luck and long life (Phala Deepika-VI/44).

(9) Another Yoga centered on the Moon and the Ascendant is Vasu­mati Yoga. This yoga arises when benefics occupy upachaya houses (3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th) from the Moon or Ascendant. This Yoga blesses the native with great financial prosperity and good luck (Phal Deepika-VI/9)

(10) Parivarthan Yoga arises when planets owning benefic houses such as kendra, a Trikona, the 2nd and the 11th house mutually exchange their houses (Phala Deepika-VI/32).

(11) Gaja Kesari Yoga arises when Jupiter occupies a kendra from the Moon. This Yoga endowed the native with administrative au­thority, polite and generous disposition and lasting reputation (Phala Deepika-VI/16).

(12) If Jupiter, Saturn and either Sun or Mars, occupy their exaltation signs, the native becomes a king (Brihat Jatak-XI/2).

(13) If the lord of 6th, 8th and 12th being weak or eclipsed, own those houses and the lords of the 1st, 4th, 9th and 10th houses, being strong, occupy the Angular or Trinal houses, the native will be no less than a king, fortunate, happy and virtuously disposed (Phala Deepika-VI/20).

(14) If the lord of 5th, 10th, 4th and lagna occupy any house with the lord of 9th, then the prince shall have plenty of ele­phants, horses, means of conveyance and extend his empire with his valour (Madhya Parasari-II/14)

(15) According to the Phala Deepika if Neechbhanga Raja Yoga takes place in a chart, the native will be no less than a king. Five kinds of Neechbhanga Raja Yogas are:- (i) The lord of the depression sign or the planet that is exalted in that sign in an angular position from the Lagna or the Moon; (ii) The lord of depression sign and the lord of exaltation sign of the depressed planet are mutually in an angular position; (iii) The planet in depression is aspected by the lord of the sign; (iv) The lord of the depression sign or lord of the exaltation sign of the de­pressed sign or lord of the exaltation sign of the depressed planet is in an angle from the Ascendant or the Moon; (v) The planet in depression is in an angular position either from As­cendant or the Moon.

(16) According to Jataka Parijata, situation of the 10th lord in the 8th house in exaltation, own or friendly Navamsa is a Raja Yoga.

(17) According to Phala Deepika, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn generate five Mahapurusha Yogas viz. Ruchaka, Bhadra, Hamsa, Malavya and Sasa, when they occupy kendras identical with their own or exaltation signs.

(18) According to Jataka Tatwa if the lord of the 10th house from the Moon is strong and occupies 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 9th or 2nd house, the person born in a royal family or he becomes a Min­ister.

Besides the combinations or Yogas mentioned above there are many other yogas enunciated by the ancient sages in the classical treatises. All of them can not be given in one article.

It has been observed that presence of powerful Raja Yogas in the horoscope of top political leaders helped them to reach dizzy heights of political authority and affluence. In the horoscope of the Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers and other top political leaders of India important Raja-Yogas found are: Mahabhagya Yoga, Mahapurusha Yogas, Gaj-Kesari Yoga, Budh-Aditya Yoga, Vasumati yoga, Adhi-Yoga, Neech-Bhang Raja Yoga, Parivarthan Yoga, Malika Yoga, Dharma Karmadhipati Yoga etc. For Raja-Yoga results to accrue in full measure, the lagna, the Moon and the Sun should not be afflicted and weak, nor there should be any powerful adverse yoga and the native should get the period of planets forming the Raja Yoga. According to ‘Hora Sara’ the Sun in 10th degree in Aries or Leo in the Lagna or the 10th house alone confers Raja-Yoga of supreme type which can help the native to occupy top position in his political career. On the other hand the Sun if occupies 10th degree of Libra in a horoscope, good effects of any Raja Yoga would not materialise in the life of the native.
